The Grouper program works in conjunction with the Health Information Management Abstracting modules. Once the abstract contains the necessary information, the appropriate Grouper automatically assigns the CMG/DPG/CACS and calculates the weight. Specific data is edited identifying errors and flagging for inappropriate procedures or unusually long lengths of stay. CMG/DPG/CACS may be calculated for individual patients and a batch calculation process may be produced as part of the month-end procedure. Case Mix Groups also referred to as CMGThe Case Mix Grouper methodology is designed to aggregate acute care inpatients with similar clinical resource utilization characteristics. It assigns acute care inpatients to groups based on clinical and administrative data collected via the DAD. The CACS grouper assists in determining the effective use of the Ambulatory Care Services and funding. More Day Procedure Groups also referred to as DPGThe Day Procedure Grouper is an important module for hospitals who perform Same Day Surgeries. The module will group similar procedures into groups in order to capture valuable information such as RIWs for hospital funding. More Functional Independence Measure also referred to as FIMThe FIM (Functional Independence Measure) grouper is embedded in the module and calculates to total assessment score in order for nursing staff to identify workload management by case.
