The NRS system was designed to be used at both the clinical level and for data capture for rehabilitation cases. The integrated FIM grouper allows the hospital to report on patient care throughout the patient's stay.

The NRS abstracting module and FIM grouper program follow CIHI specifications for Rehabilitation data capture and include all the edits mandated by CIHI. MED2020 performs yearly testing and validation of its submission process to ensure its compliancy with CIHI requirements. This program is part of the WinRecs Suite of products. They provide the same features and user interface as the DAD abstracting or NACRS system. The Central Patient Index is automatically provided with the system. All other modules integrate with the NRS module as they are being added to the system. The system is designed to be a clinical tool for nursing staff or data entry system where HIM Departments are responsible for data capture. The system has wireless capabilities in order for assessments to be completed at the patient's bedside.
